St. Vincent St. Mary High School Thrive & Drive

CONGRATS STVM THRIVE & DRIVE WINNER

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School has their very first VanDevere Thrive & Drive Winner. Congratulations to Kimberly Simpson-Kee on being this year’s winner of the brand new 2024 Kia Forte! The luck of the Irish was on her side from the purchase of her $10 raffle ticket. This was an extra special raffle, since all the VanDevere men, that currently work at all store locations, are all STVM alumni! They loved the opportunity to support not only the Akron youth but their old stomping grounds.

After speaking with Kimberly about her win, this is what she had to say, “We were totally surprised when we found out we won! You never expect to win these types of things.” After the initial shock wore off, Kimberly had to figure out what she is going to do with the new vehicle. Luckily, she has two sons that are current students at STVM that could use their own car. Alex is a current Freshman and Evan is a sophomore who recently started driving last year. “He has been driving my car so when he found out we won, he was thrilled!” says Kimberly. Another congrats are in order for both of Kimberly’s sons for having their ever first vehicle! We are so happy that VanDevere was able to help and bring joy to the family.

The raffle was a great success. St. Vincent-St.Mary High School was able to raise a total of $43,164.53! They also sold almost 6,000 raffle tickets. Great work STVM students, staff, family and friends. None of this would be possible without all of your hard work and dedication. The money raised will be helping 29 STVM programs and the school as a whole. We could not be more thrilled about working with them this year and looking forward continuing to support such a great school!

Employee Spotlight: Justin Detwiler – Technician

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Justin Detwiler, a Technician at our Chevrolet location. Justin has been with the company for over 7 years now. We sat down and gave Justin our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Justin: The atmosphere and my coworkers!

VDV: I agree. I love being a part of this VanDevere family. Always something fun and you get to work with great people. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Justin: Culture, Family and Values

VDV: The VanDevere Core Values are not only a great way to come to work, but a great way to live life! The Values are faith, attitude, motivated, integrity, love and yahoo! In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Justin: Charitable, Caring, Fair

VDV: One of my favorite things about VanDevere would be out much we give back to the community. Our charity work is something to be proud of. We are grateful to be able to help the youth of Akron. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Justin: Mostly mountain biking

VDV: Awesome! There are so many great places you could travel to for that hobby. What inspires you?

Justin: God

VDV: That is great. God is what fuels us to keep moving forward each day. Speaking of a powerful being, if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Justin: The ability to fly

VDV: That would make it easy to get to all the good mountain biking places! Also, it would make it easy to travel in general. Where is your favorite place to travel?

Justin: Acadia National Park

VDV: Definitely on my bucket list to go visit. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Justin: Any Mexican place is great!

VDV: Cannot go wrong with Mexican food. Personally any kind of pork taco with salsa and guacamole to snack on is a great meal! A big thank you to you, Justin, for taking the time to talk with us today. We appreciate your hard work over the past 7 years of employment with The Vandevere Bunch!
