Employee Spotlight: Brian Smith

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Brain Smith, the sales manager at our Auto Outlet location. Brian has been with the company for 13 years now. Brian started with us as a sales representative. We sat down and gave Brian our normal “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned!

VanDevere: Hi Brian, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Brian: I would say the team, friends, and having fun! It is a warm, family feeling working at the Outlet and for the VanDevere Bunch.

VDV: That’s great! We do have such a great team of coworkers. Also, fun activities to get to know them like the Company Picnic. What are 3 words you would use to describe VanDevere?

Brian: That’s easy… Family, Integrity and Truthfulness

VDV: Love to see how much the company positively impacts each other and the costumers! What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Brian: I love to spend time with my wife and three kids! I am a season ticket older so I really enjoy attending Cleveland Browns games Too. I even spend time collecting items such as sports cards, comic books, and more!

VDV: That’s great! Football season has almost started, so do you have a favorite player and how far do you think the Browns will go this year? Also, do you have a favorite collectors item?

Brian: The Browns will go all the way!! Myles Garrett is probably my favorite player right now. As for a favorite collectors item that I have possessed, I would say The Amazing Spider-Man comic!

VDV: We are also hoping for the Cleveland Browns to go all the way! Hope your comic collection continues to grow too. What inspires you?

Brian: I am inspired by my family. I appreciate and I am thankful for my parents, wife, and kids everyday!

VDV: Great answer! That’s a great way to start each day. I once met ____________!

Brian: It was awesome to be able to meet and shake Michael Irvin’s hand. He played for the Dallas Cowboys as wide receiver and is in the hall of fame.

VDV:  That is Crazy! What a great experience. Speaking of superhuman football players, if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Brian: The ability to fly!

VDV: I’m sure with that power you could fly anywhere! Where would you fly to or what is your favorite travel spot?

Brian: Jamaica for sure! I had a great time there in the past and would love to fly there again sometime.

VDV: With that super power, you could be there and a couple other places by tomorrow! Now, locally, do you have a favorite place to eat or visit in your city?

Brian: My family and I like to go to Buffalo Wild Wings together. My go-to order is flat wings extra crispy with medium sauce and ranch on the side.

Buick’s Plan To Go All Electric

From: https://media.buick.com/media/us/en/buick/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2022/jun/0601-buick.html

Buick is set to embark on a brand transformation that will fully electrify its lineup in North America, led by a new badge and brand identity.

In support of General Motors’ vision of a zero-emissions, all-electric future, Buick will bring its first electric vehicle to market for North America in 2024.

Buick’s future EV products will carry the Electra name, drawing inspiration from the brand’s history.

“The Buick brand is committed to an all-electric future by the end of this decade,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick and GMC. “Buick’s new logo, use of the Electra naming series and a new design look for our future products will transform the brand.”

The new badge, which is the first significant change to the emblem since 1990, will be body-mounted onto the front fascia of Buick products starting next year. No longer a circular logo, the badge incorporates a sleek, horizontally aligned layout that builds upon Buick’s recognizable tri-shield. The redesigned columns of the tri-shield, which have roots in company founder David Dunbar Buick’s ancestral heraldry, incorporate fluid movements that will be found in future vehicle design.

“Our forthcoming products will adopt a new design language that emphasizes a sleek, dynamic and forward-looking appearance,” said Sharon Gauci, executive director, Global Buick and GMC Design. “Our exteriors will incorporate fluid movements that contrast with tension to convey motion. Interiors will balance modern design, new technologies and attention to detail to evoke warmth and a rich sensory experience.”

The Buick Wildcat EV concept illustrates the new global brand design language that will be apparent in production vehicles going forward. The new Buick badge and design will debut on production vehicles starting next year.

In addition to the new badge, Buick’s revamped brand identity will also include new typography, an updated color palette and a new marketing approach. Buick will update its physical and digital properties over the next 12 to 16 months.

The brand transformation will also include a more seamless connectivity experience, as new retail Buick vehicles in the U.S. will include three years of OnStar and Connected Services Premium Plan1. Services such as remote key fob, Wi-Fi data and OnStar safety services will be included as standard equipment on the vehicle and included in the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price starting this month.

As Buick looks toward the future, its products continue to perform well in the U.S. and globally. Last year was Buick’s best sales year ever for its current lineup, with U.S. retail sales up 7.6%. This portfolio helps attract a significant number of new customers to the brand, with nearly 73% of sales coming from customers that are new to Buick.

1Connected vehicle services vary by vehicle model and require active service plan, working electrical system, cell reception and GPS signal. OnStar links to emergency services. See onstar.com for details and limitations. All plans are subject to change or terminate without notice.
