Employee Spotlight: Justin Detwiler – Technician

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Justin Detwiler, a Technician at our Chevrolet location. Justin has been with the company for over 7 years now. We sat down and gave Justin our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Justin: The atmosphere and my coworkers!

VDV: I agree. I love being a part of this VanDevere family. Always something fun and you get to work with great people. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Justin: Culture, Family and Values

VDV: The VanDevere Core Values are not only a great way to come to work, but a great way to live life! The Values are faith, attitude, motivated, integrity, love and yahoo! In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Justin: Charitable, Caring, Fair

VDV: One of my favorite things about VanDevere would be out much we give back to the community. Our charity work is something to be proud of. We are grateful to be able to help the youth of Akron. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Justin: Mostly mountain biking

VDV: Awesome! There are so many great places you could travel to for that hobby. What inspires you?

Justin: God

VDV: That is great. God is what fuels us to keep moving forward each day. Speaking of a powerful being, if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Justin: The ability to fly

VDV: That would make it easy to get to all the good mountain biking places! Also, it would make it easy to travel in general. Where is your favorite place to travel?

Justin: Acadia National Park

VDV: Definitely on my bucket list to go visit. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Justin: Any Mexican place is great!

VDV: Cannot go wrong with Mexican food. Personally any kind of pork taco with salsa and guacamole to snack on is a great meal! A big thank you to you, Justin, for taking the time to talk with us today. We appreciate your hard work over the past 7 years of employment with The Vandevere Bunch!

Employee Spotlight: Amy Groves

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Amy Groves, one of our accountants for all locations. Amy has been with the company for over 15 years now. We sat down and gave Amy our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Amy, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Amy: Knowing that what I do helps others and keeps the electric on and the waters running!

VDV: You are an essential part of our team! Keeping this place up and running day to day with the entire office team. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Amy: The way the employees are cared for and the family atmosphere.

VDV: We all take care of each other and each department depends on each other. It is a great feeling to be in a workplace that feels like home. In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Amy: Family, Caring, Fun!

VDV: All very true! What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Amy: I like to play board games and card games with family and friends

VDV: I love playing board games and card games as well! Clue and Euchre are my personal favorites. I am starting to learn the ins and outs of Canasta as well. What inspires you?

Amy: When I know I have helped someone and made them smile

VDV: That is a great attitude to have. Even a small gesture like making a family member, friend, or stanger smile can go a long way. Fill in the blank: I once met….

Amy: David Phelps who is a Christian singer and Mark Lowry who is a Christian comedian and singer

VDV: How cool! It is always fun to meet people that you watch on TV or sing along to their music. Where is your favorite place to travel?

Amy: Visiting my family in West Virginia

VDV: It is always fun to visit family out of state. You get to have a mini vacation, try new local places to eat and more! Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Amy: Amish Country

Employee Spotlight: Jim Holland

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Jim Holland, a body shop advisor at our Kia location. Jim has been with the company for over 16 years now. We sat down and gave Jim our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Jim, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Jim: The people I get to work with

VDV:It is a great team to be a part of. VanDevere cares about all customers and the Akron community! Giving back is such an important part of the job. In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Jim: Family fun and integrity

VDV: All very true! What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Jim: Throw darts and go out doing fun activities with my wife.

VDV: Nothing better than family. I played darts for the first time this year! It is a lot of fun with friends and family members. What inspires you?

Jim: My Family! Always trying to do better and making sure to take care of my wife and daughter. She is 19 years old and goes to school at Miami University in Ohio.

VDV: Family is so important. They do make us want to be a better person to give them the best life. Fill in the blank: I once met….

Jim: Tom Cousinau! He was a Cleveland Browns player in the past. We helped service his vehicles all the time.

VDV: How cool! It is always fun meeting sports players and I love that he came to VanDevere for his service needs. Go Browns! If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Jim: The ability to teleport

VDV: That is the best power if you would like to travel! If you were to travel outside of Ohio, where would your favorite travel spot be?

Jim: Someplace warm and tropical like Hawaii. My wife and I are planning to go to Europe soon and that would be a great superpower to have when we are there

VDV: How awesome! Teleportation would be very nice when in Europe. A lot more countries and cities would be seen then. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Jim: There are a bunch but some off the top of my head are Firehouse and Sammys in Tallmadge Circle
