Every month VanDevere holds a Jeans Day to collect donations for different local charities. April’s charity was The Idea House. The employees were also treated to lunch from a sort of local food trailer, Grunt Grub. The rain we had didn’t put a damper on the fun though, as the smell of the yummy burgers cheered everyone up!
The Idea House is a Christian faith-based year-round school for students with different abilities located in Canal Fulton, OH. The owner, Angi Shumate, says that she created the IDEA House Educational Services for several reasons. As a teacher for students with various disabilities she wanted a place that was safe and comfortable for all the children that were getting looked over in the normal school system. Angi also wanted a place that could focus on the special needs of children with Autism Spectrum. She also wanted a place that was for the families. Disabilities of one family member impact the entire family and the IDEA House helps with all the members of the family!
The lunch was provided by Grunt Grub. The meat comes straight from the farm to the truck. Matt and Jennifer Baker are the owners of this great food truck. Not only is the farm where they get their meat owned by a veteran, Matt is also a veteran. While Matt cooked the burgers their 2 oldest boys helped Jenn with the fries and assembling of the burgers. Don’t take our word for how good the burgers were, and that onion bacon jam, check them out and stop and get some grub!
