Employee Spotlight: Justin Detwiler – Technician

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Justin Detwiler, a Technician at our Chevrolet location. Justin has been with the company for over 7 years now. We sat down and gave Justin our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Justin: The atmosphere and my coworkers!

VDV: I agree. I love being a part of this VanDevere family. Always something fun and you get to work with great people. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Justin: Culture, Family and Values

VDV: The VanDevere Core Values are not only a great way to come to work, but a great way to live life! The Values are faith, attitude, motivated, integrity, love and yahoo! In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Justin: Charitable, Caring, Fair

VDV: One of my favorite things about VanDevere would be out much we give back to the community. Our charity work is something to be proud of. We are grateful to be able to help the youth of Akron. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Justin: Mostly mountain biking

VDV: Awesome! There are so many great places you could travel to for that hobby. What inspires you?

Justin: God

VDV: That is great. God is what fuels us to keep moving forward each day. Speaking of a powerful being, if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Justin: The ability to fly

VDV: That would make it easy to get to all the good mountain biking places! Also, it would make it easy to travel in general. Where is your favorite place to travel?

Justin: Acadia National Park

VDV: Definitely on my bucket list to go visit. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Justin: Any Mexican place is great!

Employee Spotlight: Patrick Scofield

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Patrick Scofield, a Sales Consultant at our Kia location. Patrick has been with the company for over 11 years now. We sat down and gave Patrick our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Patrick, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Patrick: Being able to help people on a daily basis

VDV: It is a great feeling to help customers find their perfect vehicles. The VanDevere core values are a big part of how we treat our customers and each other. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Patrick: The family atmosphere

VDV: It truly is like one big happy family! I love that we also invite all our customers to come back for our Customer Celebration events to meet our team, ask questions and so much more! In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Patrick: Dynamic, cohesive, efficient

VDV: All very true! What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Patrick: Spend time with my family!

VDV: Nothing better than family. It’s a great feeling leaving the VanDevere family during the work day and coming home to your family in the evening. What inspires you?

Patrick: My wife and daughters

VDV: That is awesome. Family is a great motivation to strive to be the best each day. If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Patrick: Teleportation

VDV: That would be such a great power, especially when it comes to traveling! Where is your favorite place to travel?

Patrick: Destin, Florida

VDV: Cannot go wrong with the sunshine state! Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Patrick: Favorite place to eat is my house because of my smoker!

Employee Spotlight: Alicia Cruz

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Alicia Cruz, a service, parts counter person at our Chevrolet location. Alicia has been with the company for over 3 years now. We sat down and gave Amy our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned…

VanDevere: Hi Alicia, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Alicia: The people I work with are like minded

VDV: It is great to work with a team that shares the same values. The VanDevere core values are a big part of how we treat our customers and each other. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Alicia: The Family philosophy and I love that everyone gets their hands dirty.

VDV: It truly is like one big happy family! Everyone puts in a lot of time and effort to accomplish goals. Like you said, no one is afraid to get their hands dirty and help each other out. In three words, how would you best describe VanDevere?

Alicia: Caring, Family, Opportunity

VDV: All very true! What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Alicia: Spend time with family, play with puppies, sit on the deck, and listen to music

VDV: Nothing better than family, dogs and relaxing! What inspires you?

Alicia: Positive energy and inclusion

VDV: That is a great attitude to have. Fill in the blank: I once met….

Alicia: Michael Stanley! I worked with his daughter and had dinner at his house.

VDV: How cool! What a great opportunity to meet a local Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer/songwriter. Where is your favorite place to travel?

Alicia: To fly! Instead of reading or watching about places, I could visit them.

VDV: Agreed! You would be able to enjoy so many more amazing things and get there with ease. Where would be your first place you would like to travel?

Alicia: Finger Lakes, New York! Hiking in Watkins Glen, wineries

VDV: Awesome! You even would be able to go try new restaurants and food because of the ease of flying there. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Alicia: Shogun, Sake & Sushi
