Employee Spotlight: Jen Sheldon

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Jen Sheldon, a Service Advisor at our Chevrolet location. Jen has been with the company for over 4 years now. We sat down and gave Jen our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned!

VanDevere: Hi Jen, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Jen: Helping customers everyday!

VDV: It is always a great feeling to help others. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Jen: The fun atmosphere

VDV: I agree, this bunch is awesome! We always help each other out and have so many team events! What are 3 words you would use to describe VanDevere?

Jen: Fun, Honest, Family!

VDV: These are all so very true. I mostly appreciate the family atmosphere. I also think it is important to note that it is a part of VanDevere’s core values. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Jen: I love going to my kid’s sports events and being with my granddaughter. My other hobby would include doing crossfit.

VDV: Family is so important. Sounds like you have a great one and VanDevere is glad to have you be a part of this family too! I have always wanted to try crossfit as well! What inspires you the most?

Jen: My family and knowing that everything I do is to take care of them.

VDV: That is a great motivator! Family is truly everything and inspires me to push myself at work. Speaking of inspiring people, fill in the blank, once I met….

VDV: How cool! It is always exciting to meet someone who is famous. That would be
super cool, which reminds me… if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Jen: To fly so I could save on gas!

VDV: I think we all wish we could fly for that reason! Besides gas it would also save time! What is your favorite travel spot?

Jen: Charleston, South Carolina

VDV: One of my favorite places as well! I have a family that lives down there and it is truly a beautiful city with tons of history and good food! Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Jen: Fat Heads Brewery

Employee Spotlight: Mike Brown

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Mike Brown, a Finance Manager at our Buick and Kia locations. Mike has been with the company for over 9 years now. We sat down and gave Brian our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned!

VanDevere: Hi Mike, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Mike: The challenge it presents everyday!

VDV: Great answer. There is always something new happening at VanDevere. What is the best thing about VanDevere?

Mike: The culture

VDV: I agree, this bunch is awesome! What are 3 words you would use to describe VanDevere?

Mike: Fun, Family, Commitment

VDV: These are all so very true. Commitment is very important to us here, not only for yourself but for our customers and coworkers. Also, I love that our core values really show through in the family and fun atmosphere. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Mike: I would say my hobby consists of watching sports!

VDV: Cleveland sports are my absolute favorite! I cannot wait until it gets a little warmer to enjoy going to some baseball games and eventually football too. What inspires you the most?

Mike: Taking care of my family

Mike: The singer, Eric Roberson!

VDV: How cool! Would love to meet a singer, especially after attending their concert! That would be super cool, which reminds me… if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Mike: Create world peace!

VDV: I think that is a great superpower! The world would appreciate a superpower like that! What is your favorite travel spot?

Mike: Aruba

VDV: I have heard that it is a great place to travel to. I will have to make the trip sometime soon. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Mike: La Hacienda in Puerto Rico

VDV: Love authentic hispanic food. I am sure everything in Puerto Rico was so good! Last question, since we are in the car business, what is your dream car?

Mike: A, Auston Martin Vanquish

Employee Spotlight: Brian Gregory

Here we are again, sitting down with one of our team members to learn more about them. We love learning about our team! This month we are talking to Brian Gregory, a lot supervisor at our Buick and Kia locations. Brian has been with the company for over 20 years now. We sat down and gave Brian our usual “spotlight” questions and here is what we learned!

VanDevere: Hi Brian, thank you for taking the time to sit with us. We will start off easy… What is the best thing about your job?

Brian: My team. Working with the guys and the whole department.

VDV: I agree, this bunch is awesome! What are 3 words you would use to describe VanDevere?

Brian: Amazing, fun, caring

VDV: These are all so very true. It feels like we have a fun activity happening everyday! Never a dull moment at VanDevere. Also, I love that our core values really show through in the family and fun atmosphere. What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Brian: Hangout with family and friends!

VDV: Nothing is better than that! I cannot wait until it gets a little warmer to do so many more fun activities with my family and friends. What inspires you the most?

Brian: My personal pride

Brian: Jerry Rice at the Football Hall of Fame!

VDV: How cool! I think it's crazy that the Football Hall of Fame is not that far from us. He really is like a superhero, which reminds me… if you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

Brian: Creating longer days to enjoy or the ability to control time

VDV: I think that is a great superpower! There is so much you could do and see with a power like that. Especially since it feels like there are so many things to do in this world and not enough time to do it. What is your favorite travel spot?

Brian: Bristol, Tennessee

VDV: I have heard that it is a great place to travel to. I will have to make the trip sometime soon. Now, do you have a favorite place to eat?

Brian: Wasabi

VDV: Great choice! My favorite part is when you get to watch them cook it in front of you and the portion sizes are phenomenal. Last question, since we are in the car business, what is your dream car?

Brian: A 1970 Pontiac GTO.
